The SanDisk Sansa Clip takes direct aim at Apple's 2G iPod shuffle with a removable clip and an incredibly low price point. Available in both 1GB and 2GB capacities, the Sansa Clip starts at just $40 and offers features above and beyond its iPod competitor.

In addition to featuring an OLED display - which the iPod shuffle lacks - the Clip also has an onboard FM tuner and a built-in mic for recording voice notes, lectures and meetings.

The SanDisk Sansa Clip is available in several colors (2GB version only; 1GB version available in black). The 1GB version carries an MSRP of $39 and the 2GB version has an MSRP of $59. Building on the design and feature-set of of their popular e200 series, SanDisk presents new member of the Sansa family designed to compete with Apple's latest ipod digital media players. The Sansa View is a sleek, slim device designed for both audio and video.

Like the iPod touch, the Sansa View is available in both 8GB and 16GB capacities. Also like the touch, the View is entirely flash-based. Although the View lacks a touchscreen and Wi-Fi, it does have several features the touch lacks, including an FM tuner, support for WMA-based music subscription services, a voice recorder, and up to 35 hours of audio playback. The View also has the 3rd generation ipod nano beat in price; where the 8GB nano retails for $199, the same capacity View is $149; the 16GB version is $199. You can also increase the capacity of the View with microSD and microSDHC flash memory cards by up to 8GB.

The Sansa e200 Series digital media players were SanDisk's response to the first generation ipod nano. Now, two years later, the newly announced Sansa Fuze is likewise a response to Apple's 3rd gen nano with a squat form factor and widescreen display. In fact, at a quick glance, it may be difficult to tell the Fuze and the 3G nano apart.

But looks aren't everything. Aside from a stricking physical resemblance, the Sansa Fuze and 3G nano are quite different. While the each play music as well as video, the Fuze supports music subscriptions, WMA and WMV file formats, and sports an FM tuner, voice recorder and microSD (SDHC) expansion slot for adding up to 8GB of additional storage.

The SanDisk Sansa Fuze will be available for purchase sometime in April or May 2008 and will come in five colors. Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders for the Fuze.

Sony’s NW-HD5 Network Walkman Digital Music Player is the latest generation of the NW-HD player that carrys on and improves upon the upgrades and improvements of the NW-HD3. In the Japanese company’s latest attempt to go head-to-head with Apple's iPod, Sony is ready to roll out yet another digial audio player in the Walkman series. This model, the NW-A1200, offers 8GB of internal storage, up to 20 hours of use per charge, and compatibility with the AAC audio format Apple uses with their iPod digital audio players.

Already available in Asia, the Sony Walkman NW-A1200 will be making its way to the United States and other parts of the world in June 2009. There is no current information on the cost.

The Samsung YP-925GS is the color screen successor the the YP920GS player, offering the same 20GB internal hard drive and the same full integration

The new LCD is a 1.8" 18-bit color display that supports JPG image files and cover art from downloaded albums or tracks.

The YP-925GS supports line-in or voice recording to MP3, but it also acts as a USB host, allowing you to transfer files to and from the device when used with USB On-the-Go (OTG) products.

The internal Li-Ion battery is good for about 10 hours of use per charge, 50% less than the Apple iPod. But, if you don't want to use iTunes, the Samsung YP-925GS offers iPod like performance with WMA-based music services.
